Plymouth Adventure

This past weekend we decided to go on a little adventure.

Location: Plymouth State for a Medieval Conference.

Many times, we try to find an adventure to go on and this was no different, so we piled into the car with a map and found our way over. The campus was nice and so were the people, but the destination as a whole was a solid "eh".

Turns out the Medieval Conference was more literacy based rather than history based and this was the biggest problem. The talks consisted of less than entertaining speakers talking about things that weren't relevant to the times. They read the texts from the day through the modern eye rather than viewing it as the original author would have during that time. During the discussion sessions, they beat dead horses that didn't need to be beaten and avoided observations that they would have noticed if they knew more about the history around the text. After sitting in for a few talks, we realized quickly that it wasn't for us and left a bit early.

What I find funny, though, is when we go for an adventure, we enjoy the trip getting there more than the actual destination. I find that when we go to a place, neither of us tend to be very interested and decide to leave early. We much prefer the talks and laughs that come with a long car ride than the walking and interacting with wherever we end up.

I find it a little weird that that's the way that always seems to go, but we both like it that way so that's awesome. If we could drive somewhere without having a destination, that would be the best.
