Healing Wednesday

I don't know if you've ever had that day, but some Wednesdays just call for some healing. Emotional, physical, spiritual, or all of the above, it's nice to just recharge yourself. I find that by sitting back, turning bright lights off, playing some background noises, either on my guitar or from the internet, and letting everything roll down out of me,  I feel ready for the rest of the week. Some of the best things I've found for this healing are really simple, and usually easy to accomplish.

1. Straighten the spine out. Lay down, or sit up, but make your spine long and straight. This tends to help with deep breaths, and tends to help with thought collection (for reasons I do not know). If this doesn't work for you, that's fine. Try laying on your bed in a comfortable position instead. Either which way, the point is to get comfortable, and to let your muscles relax.

2. Dim the lights. The eyes are delicate things, and though they're supposed to take on bright light during the day, you can burn them out pretty quickly if you aren't running at %100. If you want to, turn the lights off all together, and turn away from the computer screen (once you are done reading, that is!). I usually strike up a candle; the warm hue and wavering light makes it fairly relaxing on its own. If your eyes really hurt, take your palms, and cover your eyes, so no light can be seen, and hold them there for several minutes. You can close your eyes if you want to, but they can be open as well if you want to. The whole purpose of this exercise is to close out all light sources for a little while, and give your eyes a little breathing time to collect themselves and refocus (this also helps if you have weak eyesight, or sore eyes).

3. Set the mood. I find that it helps to go and set some music in the background when I'm recharging/healing. What you choose for music is up to you, but I suggest something calm and slow. Tibetan bowls, rain tracks, slow cello , any and all if you want. It really has no rhyme or reason, no moral spine or anything of the sort, just whatever makes you calm. The thing that tends to help is to think of what is ailing you, and imagine energy flowing there; hover your hands over the area if you want to. The point is to focus your efforts and energy on healing the most painful area of the body, even if that part is the mind.

There really isn't anything more to the simple healing then that.  I will enclose some links below for you to use, if you want to, but it's really up to you. Just remember that you can and will overcome your pain, if you reach out to yourself and others, and try hard.

Happy Wednesday.
